Castlefield
My Possible construction site is based in Castlefield, within Manchester. Castlefield is next to the River Irwell and the Mancunian Way. The Rochdale Canal met the Bridgewater Canal in 1985 they were also linked to the Mersey and Irwell by two short cuts. The name Castlefield is a short form of 'field of the castle'. Castlefield is a growing town with lots of areas that need refurbishing. The place I have chosen to build my building is next to the A56 and Great Jackson Street. It has no upcoming projects there and it is an eye sore. This is a good place to build due to the fact that there is a car park next door, so who ever works there can easily find a way to park. Also the Wharf is only a couple minuets drive so it’s easy to get some food. My patch of land has no slops, there's a lot of grass, but that is easy to get rid of.
On your brake, and you have nothing to do then you could get to the Castlefield's art Gallery that is only a few minutes’ drive. Or you could go to The Museum of Science and Industry which is a bit further away, but it doesn't take long to get there. Also there is Jury’s inn hotel, so workers have a place to stay close to my building. Some buildings around my site like the Museum of Science and Industry and the Jury's Inn are quite old buildings. However, buildings like, Key 103 and Castlefield Gallery are modern. Therefore, my building will be a modern. It was the site of the Roman era fort of Manucium or Mancunium which gave its name to Manchester. It was the terminus of the, the world's first industrial canal built in 1764, with the oldest canal warehouse opening in 1779. The world's first passenger railway terminated here in 1830, at Liverpool Road railway station and the first railway warehouse opened here in 1831.
